The Board of Directors of the Studierendenwerk Münster consists of nine members who are elected every two years. In addition to four students, who are designated by the student bodies (the student parliaments) of the higher education institutes in Münster, representatives of the university administrations as well as two employees of the Studierendenwerk Münster and a person of public life, who has special economic, social or cultural competences, are also members.
Responsibilities and legal authority
In accordance with § 6 of the Student Support Services Legislation of North Rhine Westphalia, the Board of Directors appoints the managing director of the respective Student Support Services and monitors the activities of the management particularly with regard to the organisation, the accounting as well as the compliance with the principles of financial procedures and economic management. Moreover it decides on the annual business plan – including the list of employment possibilities and the recruitment of executive employees. It approves the annual balance of accounts and receives the management’s annual report. In addition it appoints an auditor.
